Course Offerings
The Culture of Respect is a 10-week, 25-hour course that has the power to transform organizations and change lives. This is our crown jewel. We also offer highly facilitated and impactful 3-hour and 90-minute models that provide a taste of The Culture of Respect magic.
The Culture of Respect
The 10-week, 25-hour flagship course. This course is designed for approximately 30 participants. The highly-skilled facilitation team will guide you through an introduction to oppression dynamics, then weekly, structured discussions of 7 different systems of oppression: classism, ableism, sexism, heterosexism, racism, ageism, and religious oppression. The course ends with a teambuilding round of affirmations.
NOTE: The Culture of Respect may qualify as continuing education or professional development hours for certain professions and credentials. Please reach out to our team for more information.
Introduction to Oppression Dynamics
Do you need a normalizing conversation on what constitutes oppression? Are you and your team struggling to find a common language to discuss the issues dividing our communities? Are you interested in creating an equity-centered organizational culture?
The Introduction to Oppression Dynamics is a 3-hour course designed to illustrate the mechanics of institutionalized oppression. Participants will learn how the same dynamics fuel all systems of oppression and hear first-hand examples of how to break the cycle.
Custom, One-Topic Exploration
This is a 3.5-hour course, custom designed to tackle one system of oppression through peer led discussions. You can choose a course centered around classism, ableism, sexism, heterosexism, racism, ageism, or religious oppression.
This course is especially effective at highlighting the human costs of systemic oppression. We learn how people with Included and Excluded identities, those who are systemically granted power and those who are systemically denied access to resources, are dehumanized when the cycle of oppression persists. The course ends with a discussion of what it takes to be an ally from the Included and the Excluded perspective.
90-Minute Workshops
This course is available in two formats.
Format A aims to answer the questions: “How does embracing our unique identities and the identities of others make us a better team?” and “How does embracing our unique identities and the identities of others make us more empathetic to those we serve?”
Format B is tailored around a topic specific to your organization. The theme is “respecting each others’ identities” and there are three focuses available: age, ability, or gender.
These introductory workshops will improve team dynamics and relationships while building understanding and empathy both internally and with the clients and customers you serve.
